The son of James Oliver and Emma Adelina Davies, of 31, Woolcott St., Darlinghurst, New South Wales.

Arthur was reported in his Red Cross file to have been killed at 12.16am on the night of 4 August 1916. He was listed as missing for 12 months until it was confirmed he was killed in action on the said date.

His brother, 2131 Pte. Alister James Davies, 25th Battalion AIF was killed in action in Belgium 30 October 1917. Age 30.

Arthur's remains were discovered during 1930 near Pozieres, and he was identified through a few pieces of equipment which carried his regimental number and battalion. His parents were eventually notified he was to buried in the Serre Road Cemetery No.2.
