Son of John J. Unsworth and Fanny Elizabeth Unsworth nee Sayers of Botany Road, Mascot, NSW
3 October 1916 - enlisted at Casula, NSW with the 38th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
29 September 1918 - wounded. Wounds to the face, thigh and left arm. Invalided to England on 9 October 1918
Commenced return to Australia on 18 Janaury 1919 aboard HT Ulysses disembarking on 4 March 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
23 June 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District as medically unfit
