5 Infantry Battalion AMF (Victorian Scottish Regiment)

About This Unit

Although officially a Militia unit, in 1943 it was gazetted as an "AIF" battalion meaning that the 5th Battalion could now service outside of Australia if needed. However, during the entire Second World War the 5th Infantry Battalion never moved outside of Australia. On 16 October 1944, the 5th Infantry Battalion (Victorian Scottish Regiment) was officially disbanded - surplus to Australia's war requirements.
