43 Infantry Battalion AMF (Hindmarsh Regiment)

About This Unit

When World War Two broke out, the 43rd Battalion was already linked with 48th Battalion forming the 43rd/48th Infantry Battalion. This Militia unit undertook garrison and general defence duties during the early part of World War Two until 27 August 1942 when the unit was separated into two Militia units - the 43rd Battalion and the 48th Battalion.

The 43rd Infantry Battalion continued to operate around Australia during World War Two until on 6 April 1944 the unit was disbanded.
