HMAS VAMPIRE II (D11)

 

HMAS Vampire II was the third Australian built Daring Class Destroyer commissioned by the Royal Australian Navy. Launched on the 27th October 1956, this HMAS Vampire added the Malaysia 1964-66 Battle Honours to those of its namesake.  Among its many tasking throughout its 27 years of service, were escort duties during the Vietnam War. HMAS Vampire II was decommissioned on the 13th August 1986, and is today preserved as a museum ship at the Australian National Museum in Sydney.
