About This Unit
Since it was established in 1913, the Royal Australian Navy was 'descended' from and has maintained a close association with the Royal Navy. In WW1 and II numerous RAN personnel were attached / detached for service with the Royal Navy (RN) and vice versa. It is impossible within the scope of this site to capture meaningful attributes such as units etc across such a large and effectively 'foreign' service. Hence this 'aggregation' page serves the purpose of categorising that service, and relies on biographies and service history to tell their story more completely.
