Lines of Communication Signals

About This Unit

Lines of Communication Signals

Army had estabished a signals unit in each state prior to WW2, in order to supplement civilian communications infrastructure, and to connect major bases so they could support the 'field army'.

After a re-organisation in 1942, signals units were adapted to the needs of their supported regions, and those units operating therein.  However as  the Field Army (both 2nd AIF and Militia) moved about in response to tasking, so too did the signals elements supporting them.

Later some 'Div Sigs' and 'Corps Sigs' entities were absorbed into the 'Lof C Sigs structures.

The ebb and flow of unit titles over time and geography re-defines the word 'complex' and is not within the scope of this site.  A detailed explanation is contained in the cited Reference.
