Father Alexander Bailey (dec) and  Mother Edith Bailey
John lived with his mother at 26 George Street, Launceston, Tasmania.
Grandson of Mr John Perkins of Longford, Tasmania.

At 16/12/1919 Mother remarried now - Edith Sing (nee Bailey)
living at 33 Dry Street, Laundeston TAS.

He was one of the first young men to offer his services to the Empire.

Prior to enlisting he was employed by the Marine Board for some considerable time.

Described on enlisting as 21 years 1 month old; single; 5' 9" tall; 10 stone 5 lbs;
dark complexion; blue eyes; fair hair; Church of England.
