Prior to coming to Australia he served in the Royal Navy for about eighteen months.

Next of kin given as his sister Maud Hill C/- Mrs Keenan of Holyoake, WA.

Commenced return to Australia on 5 September 1918 aboard HT Arawa disembarking on 10 November 1918
