Algy Cyril was born on 26th July, 1900 at St Helens, Tasmania under the surname ROSIER
His mother was Mary Jane ROSIER who later married Harold Wilfred LITTLECHILD in 1902 in Tasmania
His father Harold Wilfred LITTLECHILD died in 1947 and his mother Mary Jane nee ROSIER died in 1936 - both buried in Carr Villa Cemetery in Launceston, Tasmania
Algy also went under the alias Charles Henry MORRIS & stated on his war record he was born in "Burmingham" England which is incorrect
He enlisted on 12th May, 1917 with the Australian Army -first joining the 59th Battalion, 9th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Port Melbourne on 16th July, 1917 - later he transferred to the 60th Regiment
Algy was Killed in Action in France on 9th August, 1918 - he is buried in Heath Cemetery, Harbonniers.
He received a Military Medal for actions "during operations by 15th Infantry Brigade on the Morlancourt front on 4th July 1918
He displayed great courage and devotion to duty. In the attack his dugout was blown in and he with others notwithstadning the heavy shell fire soon established communication to the rear. Though much shaken he remained on duty continuously for 48 hours during a very trying period and under heavy shell fire he helped materially in the maintenance of communication to the rear and forward all the time at great personal risk.
