Son of Patrick O'Connell and Catherine Terese O'Connell nee Duggan of Collins Street, Piccadilly, Kalgoorlie, WA formerly of Brunswick, Victoria.

Commenced return to Australia on 21 July 1917 aboard HT Euripides disembarking on 12 September at Fremantle, WA.

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

Post war he was a member of the Woolara Paddington RSL Sub Branch and in 1948 he was the Sub Branch Secretary.
