The Weekly Courier
The Rev T J O’Donnell, parish priest, had the unpleasant duty of conveying to Mrs C Morton the sad news that her son, Private V E Morton had been killed in action in July 1916 in the memorable battle of Moquet Farm, France. Pte Morton enlisted in Victoria nearly three years ago and was reported missing on the 19th July 1916. After fourteen months painful suspense the sad intelligence came through last week. Sympathy goes out to Mrs Morton and family in the loss they and the army have sustained.
