Private Cecil Ronald Streader (Service Nos:VX26599/V295610/V506946) initially served in the Militia (Private; Service No:317682) with 57/80 Battalion. Between 20 June 1940 and 17 May 1945, Private Streader enlsted and re enlisted in the Army on three occasions - serving with 2/5 Training Battalion and 59 Infantry Battalion - providing a false DoB on each occasion. Private Streader was attached to 115 Heidelberg Military Hospital at Discharge. His father Charles and older brother Reg also served in WWII.

Ron was born in Clifton Hill, Melbourne in 1923, third of four children of Charles Osborne Streader (b1895 in Bendigo, Victoria) and his first wife Claudine (Annie) Ann) Doloffsky (b1892 in Melbourne, Victoria). Charles (a Tramways Employee) and Annie married in 1915 in Yarraville, settling in Melbourne where they raised their family and Charles worked for the Tramways as a Grip Repairer. Following Annie's death in 1933, Charles remarried in 1937, and he and Olga settled in Melbourne where, following his Discharge from the Army in WWII, Charles worked as a Mechanic.

Ron had worked in Melbourne as a Sheet Metalworker, Cook's Assistant, Bootmaker and Aircraft Assembler before serving in the Army. In 1947 he was working in Melbourne as a Mechanic when he married Jean Alice May Perrott (b1928 in Melbourne, Victoria). Ron and Jean settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Ron worked as a Mechanic before retiring to Pottsville NSW. Ron died in 2017 - 'A good man who fought the last to stay. May he now rest in peace' (Herald Tribune - Death Notice) - and Jean in 2022.
