"...2300 Private Arthur Desborough South, 6th Battalion, of Abbotsford, Vic. A boiler maker prior to enlisting in November 1914, Pte South embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements from Melbourne on board HMAT Clan Macgillivray (A46) on 2 February 1915. He was killed in action at Lone Pine, Gallipoli on 7 August 1915. He was 20 years of age. Pte South's brother, 3932 Corporal Frank Joseph John South was killed in action on 19 June 1916 during the Battle of Fromelles, France. A cousin of the South brothers, 4748 Pte Percy Colston Caines, 59th Battalion, was also killed at Fromelles on 19 June 1916." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
