Son of Lucy Fly formerly Ochse of Dorai Street, Rodsby, Jeppestown, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Edward arrived in Adelaide from London on 13 October 1913 aboard the Geelong

Commenced return to Australia  aboard HS Seang Choon on 17 July 1916 for nursing duties. He later returned to England where he deserted while at Parkhouse, London, England.

Not entitled to any medals due to being an illegal absentee from 1917

Edward eventually returned to Australia how, when and which ship is not known. Following his desertion and return to Adelaide where he was employed as a driver but his life spiralled downwards and he fell on hard times.

Date of death not know however he was still alive and residing in SA in 1954. Last known address was in 1930 at Malvern, SA

On 20 November 1920 Edward married Doris Beatrice Stephenson in St. James Church, West Adelaide, SA and later divorced. He later re-married Ellen Catherine Doddy in the St Laurences Priory, North Adelaide, SA and later divorced.
