Son of Samuel Alfred & Margaret Louise Anne (nee Barnett) Hutchinson. Hector enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 10 August 1915. He served with the 1st Tunnelling Company on the Western Front during World War I., Rank - Staff Sergeant (Service No. 144). He was Mentioned in Despatches and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. He returned to Australia on 12 April 1919. He enlisted on 4 October 1939 for service in WWII. He was discharged on 15 September 1941 - Rank Corporal. He died in Macleod Repatriation Hospital, Victoria aged 93 years.
