James Clive TALBOT was born at Birregurra, Victoria in 1895

His parents were James Robert TALBOT & Charlotte "Lottie" Dora BOUND who married in Victoria in 1893 - he had one sister (Hilda Annie)

He had previously served in the 20th Light Horse Regiment in the Citizens Military Forces in Colac, Victoria before he enlisted on 2nd April, 1915 as a Private with the 24th Infantry Battalion, D Company which embarked from Melbourne on the HMAT Euripides on 10th May, 1915

He was with the 24th Battalion from 13th April, 1915 to 10th June, 1916 & served at Gallipoli & the Western Front & was transferred to the 2nd Trench Mortar Battery on 11th June, 1916 until 17th June, 1916 - he was then transferred to the 2nd Division Heavy Trench Mortar Battery on 18th June, 1916

James was Killed in Action in Belgium on 22nd September, 1917 during the 3rd Battle of Ypres and is buried in the Ypres Reservoir Cemetery, Plot I, Row E, grave 9

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and his parents placed a blackwood pulpit at the Birregurra Church of England in memory of their son.  It is inscribed 

"In loving memory of our beloved son and brother, James Clive Talbot, killed in action September 22nd, 1917 aged 22 years


He has fought a good fight, he has finished his work, he has kept the faith"

His name is also on a memorial window at the Christ Church in Birregurra
