1 Jan 1918: Honoured Companion of the Distinguished Service Order, For distinguished service and devotion to duty during period 26 February to 29 September 1917, particularly on 2 March 1917 near Gueudecourt and on 15 April 1917 near Morchies where he displayed sound judgement and promptitude of application of fire that was largely instumental in breaking up both enemy attacks. From 19 July to 6 September he maintained a cheerful and confident spirit within his unit although the battery was suffering very heavy casualties.
