Son of John and Marian Harley, Mingo Crossing, Mount Perry, Queensland

"...1688 (later 1688A) Private  John (Jack) Harley, 25th Battalion, of Maryborough, Qld. A farmer prior to enlistment, he embarked from Sydney, NSW, with the 2nd Reinforcements aboard HMAT Shropshire (A9) on 20 August 1915. Pte Harley served in Egypt, Gallipoli and on the Western Front. He was killed in action at Pozieres, Somme Sector, France on 6 August 1916, aged 25." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
