Brother of Private Edward John Lawlor Regimental number 5144 [consecutive regimental number] - also of the 14th Battalion, 16th Reinforcement.They embarked from Melbourne, Victoria for war service on the Western Front together.

William and his brother, Edward are honoured on the Kilkenny, MacDonagh Station World War I War Memorial at MacDonagh Station, Station Road, Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny.
