Bill was the third of seven children of Aron Noble (b1879 in Oatlands, Tasmania) and Mona Mabel Barker (b1889 in Port Frederick, Tasmania). Aron served with the 2nd Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen in the Boer War (Private; Service No:301) and was a Farmer in Penguin, Tasmania when he and Mona married in 1908. The couple lived in Blythe, Penguin, Burnie and Sisters Creek.

Bill was a Labourer in Montumana, Tasmania when he enlisted in the Australian Army in May 1940. He served (Private; Service No:TX1489) with the 2nd 12th Infantry Battalion in the Middle East and was Discharged in September 1942.

Returning to Tasmania, Bill was a Farmer in Penguin when he married Ellen (Meg) Margaret Maude Maguire (b1918 in Stanley, Tasmania) in 1944 in Beaconsfield, Tasmania - Meg was a Textile Worker in Launceston. Bill and Meg settled in Penguin where Bill was a Mill Hand. He died in 1999 and Meg in 2014.
