Son of Charles John Owens and Jane Owens nee Daniels of Royal Street, East Perth, WA.

On 3 December 1918 Frederick married Gladys Christian Hall in Parish Church, Halifax, County of York, England. Rev. S.L. Roberts officiated.

Commenced return to Australia 21 January 1920 on HT Friedrichsruh disembarking on 28 February 1920
