Lieutenant Bertram Hall MBE (Service No:WX2925) initially enlisted in the Militia as a Private on 21 February 1939 and was attached to 13th Field Ambulance. He enlisted in the AIF on 20 May 1940 as a Private attached to 2/7 Field Ambulance and was appointed Staff Sergeant on 30 May 1940. He embarked for the Middle East on 22 September 1940, serving in Greece and Crete before RTA on 28 March 1942 - he was appointed Warrant Officer on 29 April 1941 and Lieutenant on 4 August 1942. Lietenant Hall was detached as an Instructor to the NT Force School on 23 August 1942. He served in New Guinea from 19 April 1944 to 6 October 1945 and was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for 'Meritorious Service and ability in the Wewak Area' (AWM). Lieutenant Hall was Discharged on 1 November 1945.

Born in 1906 in Yorkshire England, Bert was the second of three children of James Henry Hall (b1876 in Yorkshire, England) and Kate Caroline Pick Brown (b1876 in Leicestershire, England). James (a Plumbing and Heating Engineer) and Kate (a Draper's Assistant) married in 1903 in Yorkshire. James immigrated in 1912, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the SS Armadale and Kate and the children followed in 1913 on board the Australind. James and Kate settled in Guildford and Perth where James worked as a Plumber.

Bert attended Guildford Grammar School and worked as a Warehouseman in Perth. In 1936 Bert married Kathryn Isobel Nelson (b1904 in Leederville, Perth, WA) - Kathryn was a Civil Servant. By 1939 when he enlisted with the Militia, Bert was a Salesman and following his Discharge in 1945 he worked in a Management position for a medical company. In the late 1950's Bert and Kathryn moved to Brisbane QLD where Bert was a Director before settling at the Isle of Capri in Surfers Paradise, QLD in the early 1970s. Bert died in 1982 and Kathryn in 1988.
