"LATE PTE. E. J. ELLEWAY.

Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Elleway, of West street, York, Kilkenny, have been notified that their second son, Pte. Edgar J. Elle way, died of wounds in France on August 24. The deceased joined the colours in July, 1915, from the Franklin Harbour district, and left for the front in October. He was 20 years of age, and was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends." - from the Adelaide Register 30 Sep 1916 (nla.gov.au)

His brother Lionel Leonard ELLEWAY also served in WW1 - Service No. 1909 and returned to Australia in 1919
