THEIR GLORY SHALL NOT BE BLOTTED OUT
The news of the death of Corporal Maurice Thistlethwaite, son of Mr and Mrs M. Thistlewaite, now of Ballarat, but formerly residents of Koroit for may years, was received with great regret in Koroit on Wednesday evening. Corporal Thistlethiwaite was one of the very first Koroit boys to enlist, and left Australia with Private Frank Coghland, now in business in Koroit. He was a great favorite with his friends and associates here, and with comrades at the war. Corporal Thistlethwaite had seen extended war service, commencing with the Gallipoli landing and subsequently in various parts of France. He died of wounds on April 2. Corporal Thistle thwaite left Australia in October, 1914 and was attached to the 8th battalian.
He was born and educated in Koroit. He was wounded four times in France. His eldest brother (George) made the supreme sacrifice in October last. His two brothers, William and Gordon, are still fighting in France. Prior to enlisting, Corporal Thistlethwaite was employed by O'Brien Bros., auctioneers, Koroit. The greatest sympathy has been expressed for Mr and Mrs Thistlethwaite, in the loss of their gallant son, who, although only a boy, has played a man's part and has played it well.
