Son of William Hugo and Elizabeth Ivy Hugo nee Parsons of New Tunnel, Wallsend, NSW.

Brother of Albert Victor Hugo sho returned to Australia on 2 Septmeber 1915 having served with the 3rd Battalion and Charles Arthur Hugo who returned to Australia on 10 September 1919 havinf served with the 3rd Battalion 

Commenced return to Australia on 5 April 1919 aboard HT Warwickshire disembarking on 31 May 1919
