Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Stanley Findlay was a Canadian who enlisted in Brisbane during 1915. He was raised on a farm in Manitoba, Canada by his parents Charles and Magdalena Findlay and he had five brothers and sisters.

In 1912 he left Canada and arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii. By 1914 he had arrived in Cokktown, Queensland. When he enlisted he was apparently working in the mining industry. According to his Attestation Papers his address was Kulumadau Mine (Gold Mine), Woodlark Island, Papau New Guinea.

He was killed in action during the very heavy fighting at Mouquet Farm in September 1916. Despite the very best efforts of Base Records no family, friends or relations of Stanley Findlay could be located at the time. His war medals were marked "untraceables".
