Son of John James Cooper and Annie Cooper of Tatham, NSW. Brother of Ronald Ignatius Cooper who returned to Australia on 24 April 1919 having served with the 1st Light Horse Regiment
Between 23 April 1919 and 23 July 1919 he studied Breed & Selection of Stock with Lt. Benest of St. Helens, Jersey
Commenced return to Australia on 8 September 1919 aboard HT Raranga disembarking on the 29 October 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
