10 August 1916 - Promted to Sergeant

18 August 1916 - Wounded in action

19 August 1916 to 29 August 1916 To hospital - shell shock

22 January 1917 to 4 February 1917 - AWOL

10 July 1917 to 12 July 1917 - AWOL. Pleaded not not guilty

30 July 1917 Found guilty of being AWOL and was held in custody plus he had to forfeit 14 days pay plus a reduction in rank

17 February 1918 to hospital - tonsilitis

2 March 1918 Admitted to English hospital while on leave - sick

18 August 1918 - Mother wrote a letter to the Army pleading for information regarding her son's condition/whereabouts as he had not written to her for over six months

26 August 1918 Admitted to hospital in England with severe leg wound
