Pte 2436 Samuel John Jones sustained a serious GSW to his right thigh at Messines on 9 June 1917.

He was evacuated to the UK and then to Australia. He RTA 21 December 1917 however died of his wounds on 14 March 1918 while in the 8th Australian General Hospital, Fremantle, WA.
