Father Abraham Israel (dec) and Mother Jane Israel,
1916 lived at Leichhardt, NSW, later mother moved to Coogee, NSW.

Brother  G Israel, lived with mother at Fairfowl Street, Dulwich Hill, NSW

Described on enlisting as 23 years 10 months of age; single; 5' 6.5" tall; 144 lbs;
fresh complexion; blue eyes; black hair; Jewish; tattoo of heart on right forearm

17/11/1916  enlisted into WWI at Liverpool, NSW

24/01/1917  embarked Sydney, NSW onboard HMAT A68 Anchises
                   as a Private with 33rd Battalion, 7th Reinforcement
27/03/1917  disembarked into Devonport, England

28/04/1917  taken on strengh 62nd Infantry Battalion, Windmill Hill

03/05/1917  transferred to 33rd Infantry Battalion

19/09/1917  proceeded overseas to France, ex Southampton

22/10/1917  taken on strength 33rd Infantry Battalion

27/07/1918  killed in action at Vaux, France
buried at:     Vaux-Sur-Somme Communal Cemetery, France

1920 exhumed and reburied in:
                   Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery, Fouilloy, France
                   Plot XIII, Row F, Grave 1
                   with 'Star of David' placed on headstone

His name is commemorated on Panel 122 at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, ACT.
