Frederick Arthur Kingston was born on the 16 May 1895, he lived In Gumeracha Adelaide South Australia. Frederick attended Adelaide High School. He was a Roman Catholic, Fredericks parents were called, Frederick Arthur King Kingston (1861-1934) and Elizabeth Ann Kitto (1862-1962). His father was born in Mount Barker while his mother was born in Gumeracha. Frederick had a wife called Edith Elizabeth Vanstone (1901-1933) she was born in Mundoora.

Frederick was 21 years old when he embarked, he enlisted on the 15 May 1916. He was a sapper. His unit that he served for was the 5th Division Signal Company (Engineers), 8th reinforcement. He embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, 22/15/4, on board HMAT A35 Berrima on 16 December 1916. During the war Frederick was wounded in action and went to hospital on a few occasions. Frederick ended up becoming a Lieutenant during the war. Frederick survived the war and returned to Australia on the 25 March 1919. 

Frederick returned home to Australia on the 25 March 1919.
