Hector Vincent MAXWELL was born at Newport, Williamstown, Victoria in 1891
His parents were Samuel Thomas MAXWELL & Martha DEAN
He enlisted on 29th June 1915 in Melbourne as a Private and embarked on 10th September, 1915 on the HMAT Star of Victoria with the 5th Infantry Battalion - he joined the 8th reinforcements from the 5th Battalion
He was promoted to Lance corporal on 7th January, 1916, Corporal on 22nd Feb, 1916 & to Lance Sergeant on 29th Feb. 1916
Hector was Killed in Action at Guedecourt, France - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
