Dennis was born about 1873 in Picton N.S.W. He died on the 2nd August 1920 in Brisbane and is buried in the Balmoral Cemetery.
His father's name was Thomas and his wife was Bridget nee McGrath.
His son Claude Ambrose also served Service No. 4579.
His wife was living in Logan Village at the time of his enlistment, and the younger children attended the Logan Village School.
He is listed in the Museum Honour Roll for that reason.
