John Robert (Jack) Bragg of Charters Towers had only just turned nineteen years of age when he was mortally wounded at Pozieres in the arm and leg. He developed tetanus and died of his wounds in a General Hospital in Rouen two weeks later. His older brother, 4139 Private William James Bragg, 9th Bn, had also been killed in action at Pozieres France, on 23 July 1916.
