PRIVATE PERCY FULTON.
Mr. J. Robinson, of Fulton and Robinson, dairymen, West Broken Hill, has received the following letter regarding the death of Private; Percy Fulton, who was killed in action during the last big offensive of the Allies in France:—
France, November 12th, 1918. Just a few lines to inform you of your 'cobber's' death. I came from Australia with Private Fulton, so I thought it my duty to let you know something of his death. Poor Percy was killed while attacking the Hindenburg line ; he was alongside one of our sergeants just as we entered the line A 5.9 shell burst right alongside them, killing them both straight out. Percy had his hands in his pockets and a smile on when he was buried. The piece of shell which caught Percy was as large as a man's hand ; it caught him fair on the top of his head, so you can guess ho did not suffer at all. I may mention that our casualties were very heavy in that particular stunt. Percy wsa always regarded as being one f£ the best soldiers in our battalion. Up to the last he did not know what fear was. His death wsa felt very much by the officers and men of his unit. He was buried some five hours later, close to where he was killed; the grave was marked, and by this time there should be a cross erected. I close with deepest sympathy from myself and officers and men of his unit.—Yours, etc., 3214 Private C. T. Clark, A Company, 43rd Battalion, A.I.F."
