Son of Joseph Quigley and Bridget Quigley nee Driscoll of Regent Street, Parkside, SA.

John Hugh Quigley served in the 50th Australian Infantry Battalion, with unit number 2429. He was born in South Australia, July 1895. He was 19 at the time of enlistment. He grew up on Regent Street in Parkside, South Australia. His religion was Baptist. John was single and worked as a labourer. His mother, Mrs. Bridget Quigley, was listed as his next of kin.

John enlisted on 23 March 1915, and his unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on 23 June 1915.

On 4 December 1915, John sprained his ankle and was admitted to the field hospital. On 5 May 1918, John was wounded in action on the field when he was shot in the head, but he survived. He was first sent to the General Hospital in Rouen and then to England for recuperation.  

Quigley Returned home to his mother waiting for him in Australia on the 2nd of January 1919. He was the husband of Alean Hilda Quigley. John and Alean were married in 1953 in Victoria. John died on 22 September 1967
