His parents were Alfred George HEWIT & Isabella JEFFREY

He enlisted in Footscray on 22nd August, 1914 (SN 620) & his service number was altered at some stage to SN 1051

He was Killed in Action at Gallipoli on 8th August, 1915 - no known grave

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Lone Pine Memorial
