"THE LATE PRIVATE J. HOLDEN.
The death of Private J. Holden, of the 10th Battalion, was confirmed in the 65th casualty list. He had previously been reported missing. He was a young Englishman, who resided at Watervale for two years prior to enlisting with the 1st Expeditionary Force, and greatly endeared himself to all by his genial disposition. He was a popular member of St. Mary's Men's Club, and of the literary society. At a meeting held on Tuesday night, a motion was carried expressing sympathy with the deceased soldier's parents, who reside in England." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 28 Aug 1915 (nla.gov.au)
