Corporal Charles Allan Richards (Service Nos:W35544/WX31605) initially served in the ACMF (29 September 1941 - 27 August 1942), and was 'in the field' in Moora attached to 109 Anti TAnk Regiment on 28 Ausgust 1942 when he enlisted in the AIF. Corporal Richards was attached to D Sub-HQ Australian Kit Store at Discharge on 17 December 1945.

Charles was born in Coolgardie, Western Australia in 1908, eldest of four children (and only son) of Arthur Thomas Richards (b1880 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Florence May Clark (b1879 in Hotham, Victoria). In the early 1900s Arthur was working in Quellington via York, Western Australia as a Labourer, and in 1907 he and Florence married in Coolgardie, where they settled and raised their family and Arthur was a Carrier/Carter. Florence died in 1914, and by the early 1920s Arthur had moved with his children to Fremantle, then Subiaco in Perth, where he was a Railways Employee until his death in 1940.

Charles worked as a Labourer and Salesman in Subiaco, and was a Lino and Carpet Layer in 1939 when he married Florence (Nellie) Wells (b1909 in Fremantle, Western Australia) - Nellie was working in Perth as a Typist. Following his Discharge from the Army, Charles and Florrie settled in South Perth, where they raised their family and Charles was a Shop Assistant Florrie died in 1969 and Charles in 1987.
