Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Thomas was the youngest of six children of Michael Molloy (born 1834 in County Clare, Ireland) and Maria Ann McAuliffe (born 1842 in County Limerick, Ireland). Michael was a School Teacher in Ireland prior to immigrating with his brother Patrick in 1857. Maria arrived in Brisbane, QLD in 1861 on board the Mangerton, and she and Michael married in 1864. They were living in Dalby, QLD (where Michael was a Storekeeper's Clerk) when they both died in 1878. Their eldest child - Margaret Bridget - was nine years of age, and the youngest - Thomas Denis - was nine months. According to Trove (Dalby Herald, September 1878, p2) 'steps will be taken for admission of some of them (children) into the Orphan Asylum'.

Thomas was a Mechanic at Toowoomba on the Darling Downs, QLD in 1903 when he married Agnes Gertrude Ryan (born 1875 in Raymond Terrace, NSW). Thomas and Agens settled in Toowoomba where Thomas worked as a Mechanic and Machine Driller. He enlisted in the AIF in November 1915 and served as a Private (Service No:2304) with 2nd Australian Remount Unit No: 8 Squadron, participating in the Sinai and Palestine campaigns. Thomas was Discharged in September 1919. Agnes and the children lived in Warwick, QLD whilst Thomas was serving overseas.

Thomas and Agnes lived in Ipswich in 1920, and Thomas resumed work as a Machine Driller. The family had moved to Maryborough by 1925, where Thomas continued working as a Machine Driller. Agnes died in 1943, and Thomas moved to Toowoomba shortly before his death in 1949.
