Jack
Known always as Jack, he was born in Gateshead, Co. Durham to a proudly Scots family who all moved to Ipswich Qld about 1905. Jack was a blacksmith from the age of 14. Short but powerfully built, Jack was an exceptionally humble and gentle man, a teetotaler, married to Thelma & father of Isabel. Two brothers served in the war with him.
Always reluctant to speak of his war experience, he remained horrified at the power & design of artillery shells designed to cause human carnage.
