19 Aug 1918: Honoured Military Medal, Citation: For gallant and conspicuous devotion to duty during the attack on Lihons on 11th August 1918. this N.C.O. was in charge of a Lewis Gun section and throughout the counter-attack during the afternoon he commanded his section always choosing his position with such excellent tactical advantage as to be of the greatest assistance to his company. He kept his gun in action himself under very heavy enemy fire killing many Huns. Throughout the action he set a splendid example to all his men and those around him
