Arrived in Australia in about 1886. Beneficiary of his will was Lillie Mortimer of McIntosh Street, Gordon, NSW formerly of Lidcombe, NSW
Attestation paper has his aged at enlistment as 44 years. On the form for the Roll of Honour Circular his age at the time of death is given as 55 years
