Augustus Harris McNamara
Augustus Harris McNamara was born Scone,NSW in 1893. He was the son of Timothy and Nancy McNamara.
Augustus Harris McNamara's next of kin was his mother, Mrs McNamara,Bonnie Doon', Eastern Creek.
Augustus Harris McNamara enlisted in Sydney on 24 August,1914,at the age of 21. He embarked from Sydney per HMAT'Argyllshire' A8 on 18 October 1914.
Augustus Harris McNamara was a farmer before he joined the army.
Augustus Harris McNamara served with the 1st Field Artillery Brigade in Egypt on the Western Front and he died of wounds in Zillebeke in Belguim on 31st July 1917.
After embarking from Australia in 1914, he believed he was going to England to train for service for the Western Front ,but his division was diverted to Egypt where he commenced training at Mena,near Cairo his brother-in-law, Wallis Crossley Rankine [5206],was killed in action in 1916. Augustus Harris McNamara was bombardier McNamara's mother received a War Pension from 14 October 1917.
