Cyril Eugene Agathon HANCE was born in Hong Kong on 26th September, 1878 - he was also known as Cecil when he served with the 1st Battalion, Naval & Military Forces, Special Tropical Corps
His parents were Henry Fletcher HANCE & Charlotte Page KNEEBONE who married in St Johns Church in Hong Kong in 1875
He had previous service in the Hong Kong Volunteer Corps from 1895 to 1912 and then enlisted on 13th August, 1914 in Australia with the Special Tropical Corps - he was discharged on 21st April, 1915 and then re-enlisted on 21st June 1915 with the 19th Infantry Battalion
Cyril was Killed in Action in France on 28th February, 1917 and is buried in the Warlencourt British Cemetery
