George was born at Brandon near Ayr Queensland on 05 Feb 1892. He enlisted 20 December 1915, aged 23. He embarked on the Star of Victoria in Sydney on 31 March 1916 and disembarked Port Said 5 May 1916. On 7 June 1916 he embarked on the Huntspill, disembarking Marseilles on 14 June 1916.

On 13 August 1916 he joined 49th Battalion which attacked Moquet Farm, Pozieres on 3 September 1916. He was killed on 5 September 1916, aged 24.
