16 Oct 1917: | Honoured Military Cross, For gallantry and devotion to duty on 27 August 1917 east of Messines. When leading a party of reinforcements forward the party came under heavy shell fire, 800 yards from the front line, severely wounding him and three men. Although wounded he guided his men to cover and when the shelling stopped lead them forward to the trenches. |
