Zephaniah George POULTNEY was born in Hobart, Tasmania on 1st April, 1882
His parents were John POULTNEY & Ann Elizabeth JOHNSON
He enlisted in Pontville, Tasmania on 22nd August, 1914 and embarked with the 12th Battalion, D Company on the ship Geelong from Hobart on 20th October, 1914
He died of wounds (Shell wounds to his back) at the 36th Casualty Clearing Station and is buried in the Heilly Station Cemetery, (Plot V, Row F, Grave 36)
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
