Albert survived WW1
My grandfather Albert Christensen was wounded twice in action in France during WW1 - Shrapnel wound and also GSW neck and chest/shoulder.
On both occasions he was repatriated to England for treatment and recovery and then sent back to his unit. i.e. he was sent into battle three times.
He returned to Australia in 1919, married and had four children - three of whom enlisted and served their country in WW2. Two of the boys served in Papua New Guinea, Bougainville and/or Salamua.
Albert passed away in my youth - wish I had known him longer.
Always remembered.
